Recently, I had a unique experience while dining out with a few colleagues. Our waiter was exceptional – attentive, polite, and knowledgeable. When it came time to pay, I asked him directly how much he would like as a tip. He seemed unsure of how to respond and then simply stated that he would accept whatever I chose to give. Not satisfied by his response, I pressed him for an amount. He eventually, hesitantly suggested 25%. So, I gave him 25% and left the restaurant with my group. After we left the restaurant, I told my group that had he asked for 100% I would have given it to him. It made me wonder, why did he not ask for a larger tip?

What do you think?

If you were the waiter how much would you have asked for?

I believe there are many people who out of fear of disappointment would have responded the same way the waiter did. I also believe that many of us take this same approach with God. We live in this middle space of not expecting too much because then we can better brace ourselves for disappointment.

Friends, what is that one thing you’ve been hesitant to ask God for? Remember, our God can do far more than we can imagine. Even if our desires don’t materialize, His comfort and presence will sustain us.

Expect Prosperity!

And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus (Phillipians 4:19)

Prosperity doesn’t come easily. It requires hard work, sacrifice, and dedication. Bridgeway Community Church is one of the most fulfilling achievements of my life. It is a place where people can come to meet God, develop a relationship with Him, and build a life centered on His love. I want God to show up in your life as He did in mine. I want Him to move in your life as He has in mine. Your victories and your peace will be your blessings from Him.

Expect More!

Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this,” says the Lord Almighty, “and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that there will not be room enough to store it (Malachi 3:10)

Earlier this year in April, we praised God because the mortgage on our building in Columbia, Maryland was paid off in full. A 30-year mortgage paid off in 15 years! It was undoubtedly the work of God’s Spirit that was a critical part of us becoming debt-free. As a church, we gave a first fruit offering at the beginning of the year. You gave out of faith, obedience, and priority to God first beyond anything else. I am expecting God to move mightily in our church as a result of your obedience.

Expect Miracles!

“This is what the Lord Almighty says: ‘In a little while I will once more shake the heavens and the earth, the sea and the dry land. I will shake all nations, and what is desired by all nations will come, and I will fill this house with glory,’ says the Lord Almighty. ‘The silver is mine and the gold is mine,’ declares the Lord Almighty. ‘The glory of this present house will be greater than the glory of the former house,’ says the Lord Almighty. ‘And in this place I will grant peace,’ declares the Lord Almighty” (Haggai‬ ‭2‬:‭6‬-‭9‬ ‭NIV‬‬)

The book of Haggai promises that if we take care of God’s house, He will take care of our house. I love that God says His present day or latter glory would be greater than the former glory within His house. I believe that God will manifest His glory within and throughout the house of the Lord at Bridgeway Community Church. Miracles don’t just happen. As believers, we have to activate our faith in order for God to do miracles. God often requires a partnership between his power and our faith in order to manifest His miraculous movements in our lives and on the earth. We must raise our faith and call out our belief that God will move. Expectation!

Bridgeway, every sermon this ministry year will be a miracle story from the scriptures that I and others will preach. To help you in this journey, next week we will be handing out miracle journals for you to keep track of all the miracles of Jesus.

Bridgeway, let’s make this a year where we #G3 – Give God Glory!

With love and gratitude,
Dr. David Anderson
